Amanda is the PTA president at Wetmore Elementary School. Thanks to her creative ideas, the school has increased parent involvement before, during and after school. She created Camp Read S'more –- a literacy family night, Movies with the STAAR -- a Friday movie night to encourage all STAAR test takers to do their best on the test, and Bike Night -- a night where families can bring their bikes to practice for the bike rodeo. In addition to all the meetings and planning for these events, she hosts art classes for every classroom every month and helped with teachers ‘Gifts of Time’ during the holidays. Here are the principal’s words: “I have worked with many, many PTA presidents in the past, but there is something special about Mrs. Brier that makes her stand out.”
