Mary is the art teacher for Castle Hills Elementary School. She has been the Castle Hills art teacher for the past 14 years. During her time there, she has helped grow art participation in the whole cluster. Because our District currently only has two certified elementary art educators, Mary plays a vital role in the development of our program for young students. She helped create comprehensive curriculum plans during distance learning that were used by elementary schools across NEISD. She also serves as the primary “go-to” for elementary art facilitators across the District. She is always looking for opportunities to incorporate art in her campus. Most recently, she helped organize the Castle Hills 70th Birthday Celebration. She reached out to other art teachers in her cluster to bring in art activities that would make the event a fun and interactive experience. Mary does not shy away from any opportunity that could benefit NEISD’s visual arts, which is why she is being recognized today.
