Recently, girls in the Space and Engineering Technologies Academy (SETA) at Krueger took a trip to Kelly Air Force Base to spend time with women in the Air Education and Training Command from Torch Athena.

The students got a chance to get hands-on with various planes and jets and ask the Airmen about their careers.

6th-grade SETA student Anabelia Cavazos was inspired by Col. Khotz and her personal testimony on how a country girl could persevere through obstacles and setbacks to become the only woman in her squadron to fly fighter jets.

8th-grade SETA student Xochitl Trejo-Whetzel was fascinated by the medical techniques and equipment aboard the United States Air Force 0004.

“It was refreshing to witness the passion for aviation at the SETA program,” said SETA MS Director Dr. Carrie Turner-Gray.
