Mr. John Merrill
My name is John Merrill and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about beginning my 1styear as the Principal of Krueger Middle School. Since the day I stepped on this campus, it has been my honor and privilege to serve this incredible community and the Roosevelt Cluster!
I am a native of Sacramento, California; however, San Antonio has been my home for the past 14 years. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Government from Sacramento State in 2005 and my Masters in Education from Trinity University in 2013. In 2013, I was provided with the incredible opportunity to serve in the Roosevelt cluster as the Assistant Principal of Windcrest Elementary (2013-2017). In 2018, I found my true home at Montgomery as the Assistant Principal and now Principal.
My wife Melinda and I are proud parents to 4 amazing boys, Jase (12), Jaxon (10), Jameson (6), and Jaeden (5). We have truly been blessed with a wonderful family. Also, we as a family are devoted fans of the Cleveland Browns. Yes, those Cleveland Browns. I just keep telling my boys… as long as they get better each game, it doesn’t matter if they win a game (I wonder how long they will buy that!)
I look forward to continuing this journey with each of you this year. There are amazing things happening at Krueger and I am honored, excited, and humbled to have been selected as Principal. There is truly no place that I would rather be than right here at Krueger Middle School. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to call or email me.

Mrs. Diana Clark
Happy 23-24 school year, my name is Diana Clark. It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I am joining Krueger Middle as one of the Assistant Principals. I am truly honored to accept this role and look forward to working alongside the Krueger falcons, staff, families and community.
I am from the “Windy City” and home to the original deep dish pizza and DA BEARS(Chicago, IL); however San Antonio has become home for the past 5 years. While in Illinois, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Illinois State University in 2003 and my Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in 2014.
I am entering my twentieth year in education. For fifteen of those years, I had the privilege to serve students and families of the Chicago Public School District. I spent twelve years as an elementary classroom teacher and three years as a High School Assistant Principal on the West Side of Chicago. Once moving to San Antonio, I served as a Literacy Instructional Coach for West Avenue (2018) and then Montgomery Elementary (2019-2023).
My husband and I have an amazing 8 year old (Honesty) who grows taller and taller EVERYDAY! (She’s the tallest in the class now.) We hope to add a furry pup to the family one day soon that can join us on the trails and trips to Starbucks for a pup cup.
I am excited and eager to serve our Krueger falcons, staff, families and community. Feel free to stop by and say hello. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each one of you. If there is anything I can assist you with now or in the future, please let me know.

Mrs. Denise Martinez Ruiz
Dear Students, Parents, and Families of Krueger Middle School,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying a wonderful summer. My name is Denise Martinez Ruiz, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal and Assistant Director of the SETA program at Krueger Middle School.
Before joining the Krueger Middle School community, I had the privilege of serving in various educational roles that have profoundly shaped my commitment to fostering a nurturing and dynamic learning environment. I spent 10 years as a high school science teacher, followed by 3 years as a health science teacher, and another 3 years as a middle school science teacher. These experiences allowed me to develop a deep understanding of student needs across different age groups and to integrate innovative teaching methods that engage students in hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Additionally, I spent four years as an adjunct professor at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), which allowed me to deepen my understanding of higher education and how to prepare students for academic success beyond high school.
In my subsequent roles, I served for two years as a P-TECH support teacher, focusing on pathways in technology and early college high school programs. This experience allowed me to help students bridge the gap between high school and higher education, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed for future careers. Most recently, I served as an Assistant Principal and P-TECH Administrator, working closely with students, teachers, and families to support academic success and personal growth.
In addition to my school-based roles, I also work as a P-TECH and CCMR (College, Career, and Military Readiness) consultant for FourPoint Education Partners. In this capacity, I collaborate with schools and districts to develop and implement strategies for school improvement and student achievement, ensuring that students are prepared for the diverse opportunities awaiting them after graduation.
As I embark on this new chapter at Krueger Middle School, I am filled with excitement and optimism. I am eager to work alongside the dedicated staff and faculty to enhance our SETA program, ensuring that it continues to provide our students with enriching and transformative learning experiences. My goal is to create an environment where every student feels valued, empowered, and equipped to explore their interests and achieve their fullest potential.
To the parents and families, I am committed to maintaining open lines of communication and fostering a strong partnership between home and school. Your insights and support are invaluable, and I look forward to collaborating with you to create the best possible educational experience for your children. I look forward to working with every family to continue to make the SETA program a success.
I am excited to meet each of you and to begin this wonderful journey together.
