Ms. Viola Chapa
I am a San Antonio native, born and raised here. I am married, a mother of three and grandmother of 3, also. I am very environmentally conscious/involved and love nature/outdoors. I value learning and passing on my knowledge to create awareness in various societal matters. I strive to learn every day and to always be my best self.
I am a 6th grade Reading and English teacher who loves to read and write. Although it's only my second year at Jackson Middle School, I have over twenty years combined experience in the education field where I've worked in all levels and classes of all types-- all subjects, bilingual, dual language, special needs, and even afterschool and summer programs. English is my first language, but I speak Spanish well and know some ASL (American Sign Language).
I graduated from San Antonio College with an Associates Degree and from University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor's Degree. My certifications include 4-8 English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR), EC-6 Core Subjects (elementary education), and English as a Second Language supplemental (ESL). I believe that middle school is my calling. Being a very influential time in a student's life, I hope to motivate students to learn and always be their best-- in the choices they make and putting forth their best efforts. I also hope to instill a love of learning and respect for education that creates lifelong leaners.
