It is an honor to call myself a Garner Yearling! I teach 8th grade Language Arts, Pre-AP Language Arts, and Reading Workshop, and I couldn't be more excited to embark upon this journey with you all!
In May 2007, I graduated from Texas A&M International University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Psychology. The following year, I began my career as an educator. My first six years of teaching experience were at the high school level, having taught at Zapata County ISD and Judson ISD. Throughout those six years I taught Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. Needless to say, I know exactly what awaits my Yearlings in the years to come. That is why I am very confident that my students and I will have a wonderful high school prep year and that the transition into the next chapter of their lives will be a smooth one.
I have loved reading and writing for as long as I can remember and I'm excited to instill that same love for language arts in my students. Teaching is my passion and it is definitely something I take seriously. When I am not in the classroom, there is nothing I enjoy more than spending time with my beautiful family! I am an NBA and UFC fan. I love the Spurs, but my husband is a HUGE Houston Rockets fan so sometimes I cheer for them, too. I enjoy cuddling up with a good book and an even better cup of coffee. I am a lover of the Arts, deeply intrigued by other cultures and the animal kingdom, and genuinely love helping others in any way I can.
