WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TEX HILL'S HEALTH CLINIC:

Crutches:  If your child will need crutches at school, a doctor’s note specifically stating the use of crutches and the duration the student will need to be on crutches while at school will be required.

Fever:  If your child has a fever (100.0 or higher) at school they will need to be picked up as soon as possible from the clinic. Your child must be fever free for 24 hours, without the aid of fever medication, before returning to school. If your child has had a fever at home during the weekend or weekday evening, your child must remain home until they are fever free for 24 hours without the aid of fever medication.

Communicable Disease:  If your child has been diagnosed with any communicable disease (strep throat, flu, mononucleosis, pink eye, lice etc.), please call and notify the clinic of the diagnosis as soon as possible.

Medications:  Please be aware, students are not permitted to carry any type of medication (over the counter or prescription) with them or on their person at any time while on school grounds. If a student is found to have any kind of medication with them during the school day they may face suspension due to NEISD policy. Some examples of these medications are, but not limited to, cough drops, inhalers, epi-pens, auvi-q, Tylenol, ibuprofen, antibiotics, etc.  Please note, we are not able to dispense any type of medication to a student without a physician’s order on file with the clinic. Also, other types of medications such as, but not limited to, homeopathic products, vitamins, herbs, dietary supplements, intravenous medications, and medications manufactured outside the United States WILL NOT BE ADMINISTERED.

Physical Education:  For students to be excused from physical education activities, they must have a note from their parent/guardian. If the excuse is for more than three consecutive days, students must have a statement from a medical doctor specifying the need and the approximate length of the recuperative period. We may only accept a parent note once per year for the same occurence after that a doctor’s note will be required.
