David Lee "Tex" Hill Middle School Opens - NEISD Leadership Welcomes Students on Monday, August 25, 2014

North East ISD was proud to welcome hundreds of students to the brand new David Lee "Tex" Hill Middle School. The school opened its doors early Monday, August 25, 2014, to more than 800 students.

Dr. Brian G. Gottardy, Superintendent of Schools, along with members of the Board of Trustees met with Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Joe Straus at Tex Hill for the first day of school. They talked to students, parents, and school staff. Speaker Straus took a tour of the new school. Principal Rudy Jimenez said he is very excited to have students start school. School staff spent the summer giving tours and hosting scavenger hunts for students, so they would feel comfortable with the campus. This is the 14th middle school in North East ISD. The school is named after World War II fighter pilot David Lee "Tex" Hill. The campus was designed to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver rating, but actually achieved a Gold rating.
