A little background about Mrs. Burciaga …

San Antonio has been my home since I was born.  My K-12 educational journey began and ended in Northside ISD, graduating from Taft High School in 1996.  In the fall of that same year, I began studying at the University of Texas at San Antonio, eventually graduating with an English degree in 2001.

Becoming a teacher had been the goal since I was a high school student, but that didn’t happen right away.  I worked in the legal field until the fall of 2007 when Southwest ISD hired me on to be a high school ESL teacher.

During my stint at SWISD, I taught a few different ESL classes in addition to English I and II.  Fall of 2017 found me on the path to NEISD, becoming an ESL teacher at MacArthur HS.  The very next year, DATA as Ed White scooped me up to become the 8th grade ELAR teacher, and so the 2023-24 school year begins my sixth year here at DATA!

To say I’m part of the DATA Family brings me immense professional pride.  From our team of teachers to the students, to our support staff, to our administrators, to our families ... it takes all of us to make “the DATA way” happen.  It’s the way of supporting DATA students academically and emotionally - we want to give students the tools they need to succeed in school AND in life.

Personal tidbits:  My husband Jaime (pronounced “HI-MEH”) attended Churchill HS, class of ‘91.  We have three fabulous children - two attending Bulverde Creek ES and my oldest attends DATA as Ed White.  We enjoy movie nights, traveling, dining out, Disney, and the MCU (if ya know, ya know).
