What is DATA?
DATA is a comprehensive 6th -12th grade magnet school program where students use innovative technologies to bring ideas of tomorrow to today. Through courses in animation, game design, video production, graphic design, architecture, and design arts, our students develop modern, in-demand technical and creative skills for our digital world.

Who can apply to DATA?
DATA is an open-enrollment magnet school program available to all students regardless of school district boundaries.

How does DATA incorporate core classes?
Students spend most of their school day in traditional classes while utilizing the majority of their elective classes at DATA, with both being attended by other DATA students. However, some electives and activities, such as band, may bring all campus students together.

What types of projects do students work on?
In addition to hands-on electives, students tackle project-based learning in core classes. DATA emphasizes experiential learning across the curriculum through an investigative learning process.

How does DATA prepare students for college?
Data allows students to earn college credits through AP exams and dual-enrollment OnRamps courses through the University of Texas. In addition to getting a head start on college, graduates earn $5 million yearly on average in scholarships, with at least 90% of our students meeting the state’s requirements for being college and career ready.

What industry based certifications are available to DATA students?
Industry certifications are available to our students through multiple opportunities, including Autocad Revit, Adobe Certified Professional, and C++.

Can students participate in extracurriculars?
Yes, counselors help students balance our courses with athletics, arts, clubs, and other activities for a full campus experience due to our ties with both Ed White and Roosevelt.

Are there extracurriculars that are related to DATA academics?
In addition to students being participant-eligible in traditional campus activities, DATA offers specialized clubs at both the middle and high school level, adding to the learning experience.

Can my child apply if they didn't attend DATA Middle School?
Yes, DATA accepts applications at all grade levels, including students who did not attend the middle school program.

What academic support is available?
With a grade average goal of 80 or higher, DATA students are able to attend tutoring sessions and peer-led study groups as needed.

Is DATA a full day magnet?
Students remain on campus the entire school day, regardless of their DATA grade level.

What are the qualifications of DATA Instructors?
All core academic instructors are highly qualified in their subjects in compliance with state requirements. Our elective instructors add onto these requirements by bringing industry experience into the classroom to further the academic standards for our students through authentic experiences.

Is transportation provided?
Yes, transportation is provided via shuttle buses between NEISD campuses and DATA. However, transportation is not provided for students located outside NEISD boundaries.

School Procedure

Where do I drop something off for my student? (Homework, clothing, lunches.)
You can go to the front office of your student's home campus and let them know you're dropping something off for your student. You can also call the front office to coordinate.

What's the procedure for picking up my student early from school?
Call the front office at of your home campus to coordinate a pickup. The student must be checked out from the main office in the front of the campus. A student can only leave with the parent/guardian on their student file, or someone approved by the parent/guardian.

What bus does my student take to get to DATA?
DATA students who live in the Ed White Middle School and/or Roosevelt High School attendance bus zone are eligible to ride their neighborhood school bus.
DATA students who live in other areas of NEISD are able to take a morning and afternoon shuttle to and from their home middle/high school (the middle/high school they would normally attend). Students residing outside of the NEISD boundary will need to provide their own transportation.
