Our team brings a wealth of expertise, passion, and real-world experience to the classroom. By going beyond textbooks, we enable students to explore, experiment, and excel in the fields of audio video production, animation, graphic design, video game design, design and art, and architecture.

    Passionate Educators 

    Dr. Djan Baffoe

    Originally from Ghana, Dr. Djan Baffoe has earned SAGE, RISE, and WELCH scholarships and advanced degrees including a Ph.D. With certifications across chemistry, physical sciences, special education and ESL, Dr. Baffoe empowers students' scientific understanding. His global perspective and passion for learning fuels DATA's inquiry-based science program in chemistry and physics.

    Kari Jones

    Kari Jones leverages her media production background to lead DATA's digital media courses. After earning her film degree from University of North Texas, she gained experience as a video editor for a TV station and as an online content producer for the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Now, Kari shares real-world insights into editing video and using Adobe Photoshop and Premiere. Additionally, she coaches volleyball and soccer while sponsoring the robotics club. Kari is excited to mentor the next generation of digital creators. 

    Brenda Blanchard

    Brenda Blanchard boasts a decade of  teaching social studies at DATA to lead AP history and geography courses. She is certified across social studies and English with a Bachelor’s degree in history from Texas State University. Brenda co-sponsors the LEO service club and is passionate about bringing history to life while having taught World Geography, Honors English, AP Human Geography and AP World History.

    Ryan Wayment

    Ryan Wayment brings his passion for English and literacy to his roles teaching honors, GT, and reading courses at DATA. With 18 years of experience, he is certified in English, 4-8 general subjects and ESL. Ryan earned his English bachelor's degree and has enjoyed varied careers in illustration, bookselling, songwriting, and publishing.

    Ryan believes in collaborating with students to create engaging, integrated reading and writing activities. Most of all, he finds fulfillment in shaping young readers, writers, and critical thinkers. He weaves in his artistic talents and creative interests to make literacy come alive. Ryan's teaching has been recognized with honors including the Trinity Prize for Excellence and the Imagine Learning Award. He coaches the school debate team and sponsors the chess club.
