Mrs. Julie Haffner
Mrs. Haffner is in her 10th year as a music educator and earned her Bachelors Degree in Music Education with a K-12 Music certification from Texas State University. Prior to coming to NEISD, Mrs. Haffner was the Assistant Band Director at Boerne High School from 2017 to 2022, and the Assistant Band Director & Mariachi Director at Travis High School in Austin, TX from 2014 to 2017. At both schools, she was the marching/visual program coordinator.
During her time in Boerne, Mrs. Haffner’s ensembles earned consistent Sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Mrs. Haffner also led the Non-Varsity ensemble to a 2nd place finish at Region in the ATSSB 4A Outstanding Performance Series, advancing to the Area round for the first time in the school’s history. Additionally, she assisted with the Varsity ensemble, which placed 1st in the Region, and advanced to the Area and State levels.
Mrs. Haffner’s brass students have frequently earned top chairs in the Region 29 ensembles, advanced to the ATSSB 4A Area round, and earned chairs in the ATSSB All State ensembles.
Mrs. Haffner is currently the Assistant Band Director at Garner Middle School. She teaches the Non-Varsity band, Beginner Trumpet, Horn, Flute, Clarinet, & Double Reed classes, and co-teaches the Varsity Band.
In her spare time, Mrs. Haffner enjoys spending time with her husband, Arnold, and their pitbull, Jelly Bean. She enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, camping, & water sports, as well as reading, dancing, movies, learning new instruments, and spending time with friends & family.
