- Once your application has been processed and you receive an email confirmation, please contact the volunteering school for possible assignments.
Adult Volunteer Hours
North East ISD uses Raptor Technologies for recording volunteer hours. When you are volunteering on campus, you must sign-in and sign-out at the front office through the Raptor process. When checking in for your volunteer assignment, be sure you are signed in as a volunteer, to ensure your volunteer hours are recorded. Volunteers who complete any hours before and after school or while off campus may log in to their Raptor Portal to log hours. The Volunteer Program office does not log hours for volunteers. Volunteers may click on the orange Raptor Volunteer Portal tab to log in.
The volunteer school year starts July 1 and ends on June 30. The deadline to submit hours in your volunteer portal is June 30. For any questions, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator.

Background Check FAQs
Below is a list of some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) regarding volunteers. Click on the question to see the answer.
If your question is not listed here, please contact the Volunteer Program at (210) 407-0309.
-
Who is required to have a background check?
All volunteers and mentors are required to complete a background check, or Criminal History Record Check. Generally, anyone who will spend time on a North East campus interacting with students is required to have a background check. Because Human Resources and the Volunteer Program use different standards for their applicants, if you are an NEISD employee and would like to volunteer, you must also complete a Criminal History Record Check.
-
What exactly is being checked?
The Criminal History Record Check is a criminal history check which you authorize NEISD to conduct. We input your information and process it against government databases to check for misdemeanor and/or felony violations.
-
What forms of identification are accepted?
Any prospective volunteer must provide the District with a driver's license or another form of identification containing the person's photograph issued by the entity of the United States government. A passport or a visa is acceptable. The District would not be able to accept an identification for this purpose issued by another country.
-
Do I have to provide my social security number?
Yes. In order for your background check to be processed, you will need to provide your valid nine-digit social security number (SSN) or your taxpayer indentification number (ITIN).
-
Do I need to fill out all the requested information on the application?
Yes, in order for your background check to be processed. Failure to provide true and correct information or falsification or misrepresentation of your information may be grounds for denial of your volunteer application.
-
How long does the process take?
If you use the Online Criminal History Record Check, the process will take 2 weeks. During peak seasonal activities/events processing periods might be extended.
-
How do I know if I'm approved to volunteer or not?
Due to the large number of applicants, we will not notify you of your volunteer status. To get your status or your volunteer identification number, call your school office.
-
If I'd like to go on a field trip this week, is it too late to apply?
Once your information is in the online process we cannot retrieve it until a specific time, which may be after your field trip. The standard processing period is 5-7 business days.
-
I'm having trouble filling out the online form, what can I do?
If you are having trouble completing the form, you may want to try a few things:
- If you are using a mobile device (phone or tablet) try using a desktop or lap top computer.
- Close the form, then re-open and try again. Even though the internet has been around a long time, experience tells us that sometimes things just get a little bit "off” and starting over solves the problem.
- Check your browser version. You should be using Chrome for best results. Updating an old browser version can help solve problems.
- Check the directions carefully, and make sure you are using the correct formats when you type in your information such as phone numbers, social security numbers, and so forth. Also be sure you complete all the fields with an asterisk (*), those fields are required.
- Make sure you have clicked the blue button 'add selected schools' to confirm the schools you have selected from the drop-down menu.
- Finally, if you still need help, please contact the Volunteer Program at 210-407-0309.
-
How frequently must I have a background check?
Volunteer background checks are processed every two years for active volunteers. If you do not volunteer within a twelve month period, your account may be inactivated. Call the Volunteer Program to reactivate and/or update your information.
-
What if I want to volunteer at more than one campus?
You can list up to 4 schools on your Criminal History Record Check (both the online and the paper versions).
To add multiple schools in the online application, hold down the "Ctrl" key and click each school that you would like to volunteer at.
Contact the office if you need to add a different school than what was originally added.
-
What happens if I don't pass the background check?
If you fail to clear the Criminal History Record Check, you will not be able to volunteer at any of the NEISD campuses.
You will also be notified by email within 5-7 business days if you are not cleared to volunteer. At that point, you may have the option to appeal. Please contact the District Volunteer Coordinator at (210) 407-0309 for details.
-
What is the required age to be considered as a volunteer with the District?
Volunteers must be 18 years or older and not a current NEISD student.
