Heather Booth plans "wild" trip for her students

POSTED MARCH 2024

Heather Booth

Heather Booth has taught at Ed White Middle School for more than 15 years. She loves seeing her students learn and discover new things. So when she learned that many of her students made it to 8th grade without ever going on a field trip, she knew she had to do something about it.

That is why her principal, Fernando Ruiz, sent in a Staff Shout Out to recognize the incredible, above-and-beyond work she does for her students in helping them learn and discover new things.

“Heather Booth does anything for her students. She realized that many of our students had made it to the 8th grade without ever having gone on any kind of field trip in their educational careers. So, she stepped up and did what she felt needed to be done. She organized an 8th-grade field trip to the SA Zoo so that her students could get real-life experience with many of the science topics covered in middle school.

For many of our students, it was the first time they had ever been to the Zoo. She organized groups, solicited donations, and motivated teachers to help. While this may seem like a small thing to some, for our students, it was HUGE! I am so thankful for Heather and teachers like her who go above and beyond for the students they love and serve.”

If you want to thank an educator, we’ve made it easy. You can send them a Staff Shout Out, and they will be notified. You can also share more information about the experience and tell your story.
