Did you know North East ISD’s Harris Middle School is named in honor of former NASA Astronaut Bernard Harris Jr.?
Harris is from San Antonio and was the first African American man to go into space as one of NASA’s research teams. He was also the first African American to perform a spacewalk.
Harris’ historic spacewalk continues to inspire current Harris students like eighth-grader Cleophus Marshall who stopped by the library to check out Harris’ book, “Dream Walker: A Journey of Achievement and Inspiration.”
