Vineyard Ranch Elementary School teacher Morgan Hill was recently recognized by the Spurs and Firstmark Credit Union for her dedicated work as an Intervention Teacher specializing in Dyslexia Therapy.

On April 1, she was introduced at halftime of the Spurs vs Portland game as the Spurs Teacher of the Game. She was recognized for fostering a genuine love of literacy for students at her school and for having a mission of being the spark that connects a child with their intrinsic passion for reading and learning.

While at Vineyard Ranch, she implemented many initiatives to garner enthusiasm for reading, such as creating a hands-on novel study unit and celebrating the students’ hard work with a trip to the movie theatre to see the film version of the novel. During the spring 2020 quarantine, she kept her Book Club going virtually and surprised her students by having the author of the novel join their final Book Club Zoom meeting. She also hosts “Flower Power” groups that enjoy the reward of reading together in the school’s outdoor garden.

Currently, Morgan helps students with dyslexia find success and reach their full potential through daily instructional intervention.

A parent recently wrote about Mrs. Hill saying, “She has turned my child into a confident kid who can read well and loves school, which I never expected. Mrs. Hill literally changed all our lives for the better.”
