Reagan’s Jasmine Montgomery named Gatorade Texas Girls Track & Field Player of the Year
Jasmine Montgomery broke state records as part of the Reagan High School track and field team. Now, just a few weeks after graduating, she’s been named the 2021 Gatorade Texas Girls Track & Field Player of the Year. Montgomery is now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Girls Track & Field Player of the Year award, which will be announced in July.
Montgomery ran the fastest 100-meter dash in state history and led the Rattlers to a second-place state finish in the 200-meter dash.
“Jasmine is a student of the sport, stopping at nothing to improve herself and her craft,” said Reagan Track and Field Coach Jennifer McHugh. “She embraces competition with positivity and tenacity.”
Montgomery will attend the University of Oregon this fall on a track and field scholarship.
The Gatorade Athlete of the Year award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field.
Congratulations, Jasmine!
