Carpentry and electrical students put their skills and drills to the test

Carpentry and electrical students showcased their drills and skills at the Career and Technical Education Center’s (CTEC) annual Skills Contest. Typically, North East ISD students would face off against other schools, but this year, CTEC students competed against each other in electrical and carpentry contests.

“Nothing about the last year-and-a-half has been normal for our students,” said electrical teacher Ed Del Toro. “Having this contest gives them the opportunity to show what they have been learning.”

CTEC instructors are grateful for the support from its Zoom Construction Technology Academy Advisory Council. Several industry and business partners volunteered their time and resources to donate supplies, prizes and serve as judges at the contest.

“We are thankful for our business partners and this would not have been possible without them,” said Victor Casares, electrical teacher.
