Librarians surprise NEISD teachers and staff with hundreds of self-care kits

Every teacher and staff member at Roosevelt High School received self-care kits.

“I love this school and so we needed to do something nice,” Rachel Downen said.

Downen is the lead librarian and branch manager of the Molly Pruitt Public Library located on campus.

The team of librarians put together 500 bags filled with things like stress balls, Chess board games, hot tea, hand sanitizer, chocolate, bubble wrap, color therapy worksheets and spa items.

“We made them for custodians, counselors, clerks, ISS, food service workers, special education assistants, everybody on campus,” Downen explained.

The kits were made possible thanks to a grant from the Rackspace Technology Foundation.

"I know this year has been not the best year for educators, school staff, administrators, counselors and all of the people invested in these kids. We wanted to just kind of surprise them,” Downen said.

It was their way of saying thank you for all our educators do every single day.
