Madison alum shares her passion on Lone Star Law

Lone Star Law has been highlighting Texas Game Wardens since it first aired on Animal Planet in 2016. The next time you tune in, keep your eyes open for North East ISD alum Ashton Gulczewski. The Madison High School graduate is a Game Warden in Aransas County, right on the Gulf Coast, and is being featured in the latest season of Lone Star Law.

“Lone Star Law came up to the Game Warden Academy on the day we were doing alligator handling and had a couple of us in mind who they wanted to film,” said Gulczewski. “I happened to be one of those people. Since then, they have been riding along with me from time to time.”

Gulczewski attended Wood and Harris middle schools before moving on to Madison. She was a force on the basketball team and a key member of the track and field squad. After graduation, she studied nursing at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). During her second year, she realized nursing wasn’t a good fit. So, Gulczewski started looking for her passion outside of the health field.

“I did an internship with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Corpus Christi and during that internship I met a Game Warden. After that, I knew that was what I wanted to do. I transferred to Texas State University to study Wildlife Biology.”

Next came an internship with Texas Parks and Wildlife where she rode along with Game Wardens for the summer. In April 2020, she graduated from the Texas Game Warden Training Academy. As a Game Warden in Aransas County, she deals with wildlife and people on land and the water. Gulczewski handles everything from water safety checks to duck hunting, oyster harvests, wildlife conservation, public education and more.
