Picture Perfect: ETA senior featured in downtown art display

ETA senior featured in downtown art display There’s a new pop of color at the Frost Bank in downtown San Antonio. Roosevelt High School senior Angela Bakaysa didn’t expect much when she submitted a photo she took of a beautiful flower in the Picture Your World Online Exhibition contest. Now, it’s on display for all of San Antonio to enjoy.

Angela has a natural eye for photography. It’s one she’s developed at Roosevelt’s Engineering & Technologies Academy (ETA).

“I wanted to attend ETA because I was interested in the various engineering and science-related curriculums offered within the program,” said Bakaysa. “It was in Mrs. Gentry’s graphic design class that I found a liking for photography and design.”

Angela attended Royal Ridge and Harmony Hills elementary schools and Ed White Middle School before applying for ETA. She discovered her passion for photography in Grizelda Gentry’s classroom and flourished under her guidance.

“Mrs. Gentry encouraged me to enter competitions and gave valuable feedback on my submissions. Through art galleries or VASE competitions, she would always be there to provide us support and guidance. I want to thank Mrs. Gentry for everything she’s done. She is an amazing teacher!”

Photographs from former ETA students Jeremy Powell and Natalie Grant are also featured in the Picture Your World exhibit.
