Reagan student honors her sister's memory with donation drive

The Ronald McDonald House is a charity that’s near and dear to Madison Giardino’s heart. The entire family, including Madison and her twin sisters London and Brooklyn, moved to Baltimore so London could receive treatment for brain cancer at Johns Hopkins. The Giardino’s spent eight months living at Ronald McDonald House facilities in Baltimore and New York City until London lost her battle with cancer in 2012.

Madison was a kindergarten student at Northwood Elementary School at the time. Now, she’s a freshman at Reagan High School. As the years went by, she’s never forgotten her family’s time at the Ronald McDonald House. The experience inspired her to lead a toy and blanket drive benefiting San Antonio’s Ronald McDonald House.

“The Ronald McDonald House holds a special place in my family’s heart. It brought me so much joy to give back to them the way they so generously gave to us.”

Giving is second nature to Madison. She’s part of Reagan’s Got Hope Club, Key Club and Winner’s Circle. While she’s been unable to volunteer in person for much of this year, she’s committed to making a difference in her community.

Pictured below are Madison and her sister, Brooklyn.
