The COVID-19 pandemic required a swift response from North East ISD. In March, District officials quickly mobilized emergency response efforts, from distributing curbside meals to students in need, to organizing nurse and counselor hotlines and using campus 3D printers to create face shield headbands for frontline workers. All of this was accomplished while teachers, campus leaders, students and parents launched right into virtual learning after spring break.
The Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) recognized North East ISD's extraordinary efforts with a COVID-19 Response and Recovery award on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Dr. Sean Maika, Superintendent of Schools, and Shannon Grona, NEISD Board of Trustees President, accepted the award on behalf of NEISD during AACOG’S Regional Awards Ceremony.
