NEISD theatre performances reach living rooms

The show must go on, and North East ISD Fine Arts students and teachers are embracing creative ways to share their performances from a safe distance.

Reagan High School live-streamed the theatre department’s production of The Crucible for audiences to enjoy at home. Johnson High School also streamed its production of She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms in October and recently held an outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing

LEE High School streamed the premiere of the mockumentary King: Muther Magik and Mayhap Mahem to audiences at home in October. Madison High School’s Maverick Theatre streamed its take on the War of the World: Panic Broadcast and MacArthur High School created a Brahma Drama podcast titled, Who’s There? The series featured original spooky stories produced by students.

“District theatre programs are finding creative ways to let their student’s talents shine and entertain the community,” said Joseph Johnson, NEISD Fine Arts Director of Student Activities. “While everyone is still waiting for things to get back to normal, it is nice to know that theatre is alive and well at North East ISD.”
