Madison soccer star named Gatorade’s Player of the Year

Jillian

Just weeks after graduating from Madison High School, Jillian Martinez received more great news; she was named Gatorade’s Texas Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

“I feel honored and humbled to have won this award,” said Martinez. “I consider myself blessed to be a part of the Gatorade Player of the Year family. I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for my support system.”

This support system includes family, friends, and countless others from North East ISD.

“Throughout the years, I have had the support of my NEISD teachers, administrators, and coaches,” she said. “For the last 11 years, I have been an NEISD student, and along the way, I have had many teachers and coaches that have inspired me and motivated me to be the best student-athlete I can be.”

She is taking her talents to UCLA. She will be playing on the women’s soccer team there and majoring in Physiological Science. Her goal is to play professional soccer and then eventually return to San Antonio to serve this community as a pediatrician.

Because of her award, Gatorade will be sending a banner to hang in the rafters at Madison.

Congratulations Jillian, we wish you the best on your journey.
