Northern Hills teachers mail ‘brag cards’ to students
Summer school students at Northern Hills Elementary School received a special message in the mail from their proud teachers. More than 60 ‘brag cards’ were written and mailed by teachers highlighting the hard work and dedication of their distance learning students. Summer school principal Iris Escandon says this gesture is just one way teachers are staying connected with their students.
“The goal of our initiative was to have students know how much their teachers recognize their efforts during distance learning,” said Escandon. “We recognize the teacher brags in our morning announcements, but we wanted our students and families to know that their hard work and persistence haven’t gone unnoticed.”
As online learning continues through the June semester of summer school, NEISD teachers are committed to their mission of nurturing relationships with their students despite the distance between them.
