NEISD educators build connections during online summer school

Distance learning continues at North East ISD during the first semester of summer school. The mission of the District continues to revolve around finding fresh ways to connect with their students while providing a level of consistency. Summer school principal Jacob Collazo is one of several educators who have worked tirelessly to create an online learning model that benefits students and teachers.

“We knew that we had to take the lessons learned during distance learning this spring and strategically improve what didn’t work and keep what did,” said Collazo. “Building strong connections through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons helped us hit the ground running with high-quality engaging lessons from day one."

The District has evolved alongside the COVID-19 health crisis by offering summer school, registration and professional development opportunities virtually. Together or apart, Collazo knows it's important to remain a steady support system for our students.

“There is a lot going on in the world and we want our teachers to be the normalcy and consistency in their day, something they can look forward to,” said Collazo.
