Students and teachers at Camelot Elementary School have no shortage of pride in the positive culture that’s been created on campus. Now, every Camelot Knight has a new reason to cheer and develop important life skills through the renowned Ron Clark Academy (RCA) House System. RCA utilizes transformative methods and techniques to implement values like character building, strengthening relationships and school spirit.
Camelot has fully embraced the House System, which divides students and teachers into one of four houses: Altruismo, Amistad, Isibindi and Reveur. The students and teachers in each house embrace their team colors, symbolic animals, cheers and symbols. Students are also rewarded with points for demonstrating academic success, positive character and good behavior. At the end of the school year, the group with the most points will be crowned House Champions.
Fourth-grade teacher and Reveur team leader Lauren Kratzenberg says this initiative is strengthening an already tightknit bond on campus.
“Students will learn to celebrate themselves and others, lose gracefully and learn from their mistakes through kind, spirited competition,” said Kratzenberg. “House meetings will encourage students to interact with other children and positive adult role models they normally may not have had the chance to form a bond with.”
Kratzenberg says the RCA House System is about finding the right combination of structure, academics, relationships and fun. The program also encourages life skills and helps garner relationships between students and teachers in different grade levels. This new adventure is something the entire Camelot community can embrace together.
“I can’t wait to watch our Knights take pride in not only their houses, but most importantly, themselves,” said Kratzenberg. “This system ensures that each child feels seen and feels like they belong here at Camelot. Who wouldn’t want that for their child?”
