Two outstanding students from Garner Middle School led the North East ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Sept. 9 with the Invocation and Pledge to the U.S. and Texas flags.

They were selected for this honor based on their outstanding performance in academics and extracurriculars, as well as excellent conduct.

Jude Williams is in eighth-grade at Garner and led Trustees and guests with a special invocation. Jude is in the Gifted and Talented program in both English and math, and is in Pre-AP classes in the remaining core subjects.  In addition to his academics, he is an active videographer in the school’s simulcast class.  His teachers consistently say that he is a dedicated, motivated student who gives 100 percent effort on everything he does. 

Alison Garcia is also an eighth grader at Garner led the pledge. Alison is taking Pre-AP classes in all her core subjects and is in the dual language program. Alison an excellent musician in the school’s award-winning orchestra.  Her teachers say that she is a delight to have in class and is a great role model among her peers.  Alison is also an active and very successful student athlete in volleyball, basketball, track, soccer and tennis.

 

2019 It’s Time Texas School Health Advisory Council State Award

The Board recognized the North East ISD School Health Advisory Council for a special state honor received for the second time.

Since 2014, It’s Time Texas has recognized five School Health Advisory Councils (SHACs) annually from a pool of applicants from across the state. Criteria for the application includes: number of active council members, number participating students and parents, frequency of meetings, reporting practices, number of issue areas addressed, and accomplishments during that school year. North East ISD was recognized in 2016 and once again in 2019.

 

Administrative Training Program Graduates

For many years, North East ISD conducts an Administrative Training Program where educators are selected to take part in a professional development program for an entire year to build leadership skills. Last year’s class has completed its training program and was brought before the Board to celebrate their achievements. Congratulations to the 2018-2019 Administrative Interns.
