LEE/ISA students and teachers spend Spring Break in China

Teachers and students from LEE High School and the International School of the Americas (ISA) spent much of their Spring Break traveling in China. The 9 – 12th-grade students visited the cities of Beijing, Wuxi, and Shanghai. In Beijing, they climbed the Great Wall of China, toured the Palace Museum and the National Aquatic Center.

The city of Wuxi, in the Jiangsu Province, was established as a sister city to San Antonio in 2012. Students and teachers visited the Wuxi Foreign Language School, City Hall, and the Wuxi Special School, where they were able to visit different classrooms. At lunch, they ate in the cafeteria and later planted a friendship tree in the school garden.

The last stop was in Shanghai, where students visited the second tallest building in the world, Shanghai Tower. They also stopped at Yu Garden and Disneyland Shangai before riding the high-speed “maglev train” which carried them 19 miles in just eight minutes.

While in China, the students and teachers dined on authentic Chinese cuisine and practiced their Chinese in real-life scenarios. ISA hopes to one day host Wuxi students and teachers in San Antonio.
