Senior leaders in the LEE High School JROTC program presented the colors and visited patients at San Antonio’s Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital on Friday, Feb. 15. This visit coincided with the National Salute to Veteran Patients Program, which is an opportunity to pay tribute and express appreciation to hospitalized Veterans.
“I enjoy the stories that the veterans share and this has taught me to appreciate their sacrifices they made for our country,” said cadet Veronica Perez.
The program’s main goal is to increase community awareness and encourage citizens to visit veterans or volunteer at a VA Medical Center.
