Roosevelt JROTC honors retiring principal
The Roosevelt High School JROTC honored retiring principal Melvin Echard with his very own battalion ceremony. Students recited the cadet creed and gave Echard a shadow box showcasing the Roosevelt Rough Rider Battalion as a thank you for his continued support. Many cadets experienced Echard’s help first-hand and are thankful for all that he’s done during his tenure at Roosevelt.
“It’s a bittersweet thing,” said cadet Joel Lopez. “Mr. Echard was there for everything that the Battalion did, from drill competitions to events and ceremonies. I ask myself, ‘who’s going to support us as much as him?’, but I think our new principal will follow in Mr. Echard’s footsteps and I’m excited about the future.”
Roosevelt JROTC is thankful for Echard’s continuous support as they competed locally, and nationally and his role in facilitating marksmanship gear and a custom team trailer.
