Castle Hills holiday donation benefits West Avenue

The Castle Hills Elementary School community is doing their part to ensure every student at their sister school, West Avenue Elementary, has a gift to unwrap this Christmas. Ten West Avenue families, including more than two dozen children, will receive wrapped gifts like books, toys, pajamas, electric toothbrushes, and more after a donation drive at Castle Hills.

Gift tags with the gender, age, and type of gifts needed for each child were hung in the foyer of Castle Hills in December. Anyone interested in donating items could then dropped them off at the office. On Wednesday, Dec. 19, Castle Hills teachers held a gift-wrapping party in preparation for the donation delivery on Thursday, Dec. 20.

“This is such a blessing for our students and their families,” said West Avenue Principal Victor Saldana. “We are so grateful for the kindness of the Castle Hills community.”

In all, more than 300 gifts were donated and wrapped this year and will be distributed just in time for the holidays.
