Reagan cabinetmaking class builds for client

Each year students in the Mill and Cabinetmaking class at Reagan High School are tasked with building cabinets for a client. This semester, students got to work assembling two cabinets for a home. One cabinet would hold house linens while the other project challenged students to transform an existing cabinet that was more than 100 years old and turn it into a bathroom vanity.

The cabinets were constructed of high-quality birch plywood and accented with walnut and white oak face frames. Students worked for two periods each day, five days a week in order to meet their winter break deadline. During this time, students learned about proper joinery techniques and machine usage. This class offers students an opportunity to learn high-end cabinetry skills, along with working as a team with a deadline and a budget.
