Citibank made a special visit to Ed White Middle School on Thursday, Nov. 29. The financial institution recently launched a new program in San Antonio called Women in Technology as part of their national program. Ed White is only the second middle school in Texas to take part in this informative opportunity. The program targets middle school students, specifically seventh-grade girls, to discuss technology and help overcome some of its stereotypes when it comes to women in the industry.
The opportunity arose when Brenda L Burmeister, a teacher at Ed White, requested additional information on the program during a Citibank volunteer meeting. The financial institution then decided to present to the Ed White campus. Approximately 140 seventh-grade girls throughout the day took part in the presentation.
The program focuses on enabling economic progress for young women in a world where they can reach their fullest potential.
