A teacher at Northern Hills Elementary School has been named Teacher of the Week as part of the KONO 101.1 Feature Teacher Literacy Program. On Tuesday, Nov. 27, KONO morning show host Dave Rios, Top Dog the mascot and the KONO crew visited Northern Hills to celebrate Pre-K teacher Jennifer Zigmond. She was nominated by the mother of one of her Pre-K students.
As part of the celebration, students were serenaded by Rios and Top Dog in the library. The students were also treated to a storybook read aloud by Rios. Best of all, Zigmond received $101 to purchase supplies for her classroom.
“This was a total surprise, in fact, I was shocked,” said Zigmond. “I’m going to give the money to our librarian so she can pick out some great books for the students to enjoy.”
