Army JROTC programs at LEE and Churchill high schools took part in the 2018 San Antonio Season Opener Cup Air Rifle Competition. The contest took place on Sept. 20, 21 and 22 at LEE High School. Medals were awarded to the top eight individuals in each category. LEE cadet Gabe Palos finished third out of 47 in the precision category, and the LEE JROTC precision team finished second place overall in the precision team category.
The Air Rifle team specializes in marksmanship with compressed air rifles. The three positions that cadets shoot in are standing, kneeling and prone. The precision category is a varsity rifle competition.
