Colonial Hills receives CPR kit donation from American Heart Association

Students and staff at Colonial Hills Elementary School now have access to invaluable CRP training kits after a donation from the American Heart Association (AHA). On Monday, Sept. 24, representatives from the AHA visited Colonial Hills to drop off two ‘CPR in Schools’ training kits and 50 ‘CPR Anytime’ training kits.

Colonial Hills P.E. and Health Teacher Terri Pitts says the new CPR training kits will be used to educate students and their families.

“We will have an American Heart Association representative present for CPR training with community members on Fitness Nights and during our Health Fairs,” said Pitts. “Our Family Specialist and an American Heart Association representative will also teach CPR to parents. The ‘CPR Anytime’ kits can be self-instructed, so families can borrow them and refresh their skills.”

Each ‘CPR in Schools’ training kit contains one wheeled classroom carry bag, 10 inflatable manikins, 10 kneel mats, 10 individual carry bags, five practice-while-watching training DVDs, one hand pump for manikin inflation, two mesh collection and storage bags, 10 replacement airways, 50 manikin wipes, 10 replacement face masks, 10 AED training simulators, one Facilitator Binder with lesson plan materials, and one Facilitator Guide.

Each ‘CPR Anytime’ training kit comes with a bilingual adult and child CPR Anytime DVD, one personal manikin, one bilingual skills reminder card, one manakin replacement lung, and manikin wipes.

Colonial Hills has become a leader in student and staff wellness. The school has received the Gold Status Alliance for Healthier Generation Award for the past two years.
