North East ISD campuses recognized as one of “America’s Healthiest Schools”

Two North East ISD campuses have been recognized as one of “America’s Healthiest Schools” by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. This national organization empowers children to develop lifelong, healthy habits.

Harmony Hills and Montgomery elementary schools earned this distinction by serving healthier meals and snacks, keeping their students moving, offering high-quality health and physical education, and empowering school leaders to be healthy role models. Qualifying schools are awarded bronze, silver and gold level distinctions. Harmony Hills received silver and Montgomery received bronze recognitions.

Harmony Hills and Montgomery each met or exceeded federal nutrition standards for school meals and snacks and offer breakfast daily. Each campus also provided students with at least 60 minutes of physical education per week and ensure physical activity throughout the school day. They also offer updates on District wellness policies.
