Recent NEISD graduate competes in National Electrical Competition

When Bruno Muratti graduated from MacArthur High School in June he knew he had some unfinished business to take care of just two weeks later.

Muratti was a member of the Electrical Systems Technology Magnet Apprenticeship Program. During his senior year, he qualified to compete in the Skills USA National Electrical Construction Wiring Competition. Muratti practiced four hours a day ahead of the national contest. On June 25, he and his electrical program instructor, Eduardo Del Toro, flew to Louisville, Kentucky to compete against 42 of the nation’s top high school students.

Over the next three days Muratti took part in several challenges that tested his skills as an electrician, including a written test, wiring his own project and then taking it apart while ensuring that everything was up to code. He also scored a 100 on material acquisition, a task in which he was given two hours to collect all the materials he would need for his project.

Muratti finished fourth overall out of the top 42 high school students in the country. Del Toro couldn’t be happier with the results.

“I am extremely proud of this young man and wish him the best in his electrical career,” said Del Toro.

Muratti will continue his education at Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) in San Antonio while working with Enterprise Solutions.
