ETA students earn high marks at TSA conference

The 40th Annual Technology Students Association National Conference was held at The World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia on June 21 through June 26. More than 8,000 students and educators were in attendance, representing 107 high schools from across the United States, Germany, Japan and Turkey. 

The conference theme was “A Celebration of Success.” North East ISD was represented by 15 students from the Engineering & Technologies Academy (ETA) at Roosevelt High School and received three top ten in the nation awards and 1 semi-finalist award.

Students competed in Engineering Design, Architectural Design, Children Stories, Coding, Structural Engineering, On and Video, Technology Bowl, Coding, CIM Computer Integrated Manufacturing, CAD Engineering, Technology Problem Solving, Chapter Team, Dragster Design, Flight Endurance, Future Technology Teacher, Music Production, Photographic Technology, On Demand Video, Technology Problem Solving, and Video Game Design. 

**The following students were eligible to attend Nationals: Keegan McQuin, Aaron Zamora, Julian Wearden , Whitney Hicks, Brenda Valdez, , Ayaan Momin, Jeremy Powell, Maribelle Long, Victoria Losoya, Natalie Grant, Adrian Rucker, Noami Cruz Ojeda, Elijah Gonzalez and Saffron Kaplan.

**The following students received the Gold Achievement Award: Alexander Acosta (Armenta), Victoria Day, Lucas Garrett, Jonathan Garza, Jakob Geib, Natalie Grant, Victoria Losoya.

**The following students received the TSA National Honor Society: Aaron Zamora, Brenda Valdez and Julian Wearden

**Harrison Wissell-Litmann, received the Dr. Bob Hanson Distinguished Student Award.

**ETA received the 2016-2017 State Superlative Membership Award. Largest High School Blue CAP Chapter. 

ETA advisors who attended the Convention were Josh Beck, Dr. Albert Chang, Grizelda Gentry, and Robert Lozano, Director of the Engineering & Technologies Academy.
