Transportation employees honored at ceremony
For nearly 10 years, the North East ISD Transportation department has lacked enough drivers to cover all of the routes necessary to bus students to and from school. Fortunately, a dedicated group of 56 individuals stepped up to the plate to help provide safe transportation for our students this school year.
In addition to doing their daily jobs, they also drive school buses when routes were shorthanded.
These individuals were honored at a special awards ceremony on July 3 and were given a personal word of thanks from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian G. Gottardy.
“We couldn’t do what we need to get down without your help,” said Gottardy. “We know this is above and beyond your regular duties and on behalf of myself, Executive Staff and our Board of Trustees, I want to thank you for all you do for our students.”
Among the individuals who step up to drive are trainers, coordinators, foremen, mechanics and supervisors.
