A new grant will soon be making a difference for North East ISD students in our Transportation Technology Academy.

NEISD earned a $45,488 Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Texas Governor Greg Abbott made the announcement this past week.

Our Transportation and Technology Academy features high school students in the Automotive and Diesel programs. It is part of our Career and Technology Education Center (CTEC). This grant will be used to help purchase and install new equipment and provide new training opportunities.

“The NEISD CTE department sought this grant to purchase equipment that would provide students with hands-on learning experiences in the Automotive and Diesel programs offered at the Career and Technical Education Center,” said Justin Missildine, Career and Technical Education Senior Director. “Through these programs, NEISD seeks to produce qualified technicians to service the jobs listed in the statewide Target Occupation Jobs [those high in demand and growth], including Automotive Service Technicians and Mechanics, Bus and Truck Mechanics, and Diesel Engine Specialists for the Alamo region.”

Do you want to learn more about all the opportunities for students at CTEC? Join us at our open house event on Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
