Big Gift!

Double Diamond Transport donated a 53-foot box trailer to North East ISD’s Career and Technical Education Center’s (CTEC) Transportation Academy.

“In our industry, there is no better place to start than on these 53-foot trailers,” said Adam Blanchard, Co-Founder and CEO of Double Diamond Transport. “It will allow them to work on the hydraulic systems, braking systems and the electrical systems on these trailers. Nothing replaces turning wrenches, and this hands-on approach here at CTEC will help these students in the future.”

Students were amazed when they saw the massive trailer. The students in the automotive training program couldn’t wait to check out the trailer close-up. One student mentioned how donations like this give him and his classmates confidence.

“I think they see the potential for CTEC students to get very good employment opportunities," said sophomore Arjun Santiago. “CTEC is a very valuable program allowing students like me to get experience and knowledge in the industry.”

More than 700 students from all NEISD’s high schools take advantage of the vocational training offered at CTEC. Students get the opportunity to get hands-on training and earn certifications in automotive, electrical, construction and medical fields.

Those hands-on opportunities wouldn’t be possible without NEISD’s community business partners like Double Diamond Transport. Along with today’s generous donation, Blanchard also offered the students some encouragement and thanked them for taking courses that set them up to fill much-needed positions in the workforce.

“The bottom line is the programs North East has through their CTE program are the foundation of our economy,” said Blanchard. “We cannot be more proud to donate and be a part of this program.”
