Parent Message: March 4, 2022

We’re just a few hours away from spring break. I hope you enjoy this time off with your family and friends. Two years ago, we all left for spring break and did not return. The pandemic has certainly challenged us all. But I’m so proud of the way our students, families, teachers and support staff united as a community to find a way forward together. 

When we return on March 14th, we’ll have just 11 weeks left in the school year. The spring semester is a busy one, and I’m looking forward to attending one of my favorite events.  

Our high school Summa Cum Laude ceremonies highlight the seniors who are graduating with a grade point average higher than 100. While this is a night to celebrate the accomplishments of our students, it’s also an opportunity for our students to honor teachers who have inspired them. While many students elect to celebrate a current teacher – it’s not uncommon to hear a student talk about the positive impact an elementary or middle school teacher has made on their life. Every year, I leave this ceremony feeling inspired and proud of our educators and students. 

Congratulations to our Summa graduates and thank you to all of the teachers who have helped educate, influence and inspire our students over the years. 

Before I wrap up, I want to leave you with some good news. NEISD will not have to make up any of the bad weather days from January and February.

Estamos a solo unas horas de las vacaciones de primavera. Espero que disfruten de este tiempo libre con su familia y amigos. Hace dos años, todos nos fuimos a las vacaciones de primavera y no regresamos. La pandemia ciertamente nos ha desafiado a todos. Pero estoy muy orgulloso de la forma en que nuestros estudiantes, familias, maestros y el personal de apoyo se unieron como comunidad para encontrar un camino a seguir juntos.

Cuando regresemos el 14 de marzo, solo nos quedarán 11 semanas en el año escolar. El semestre de primavera es muy ajetreado, y estoy deseando asistir a uno de mis eventos favoritos. 

Nuestras ceremonias de Summa Cum Laude de la escuela preparatoria destacan a los estudiantes de último año que se gradúan con un promedio de calificaciones superior a 100. Si bien esta es una noche para celebrar los logros de nuestros estudiantes, también es una oportunidad para que nuestros estudiantes honren a los maestros que los han inspirado. Si bien muchos estudiantes eligen celebrar a un maestro actual,– No es raro escuchar a un estudiante hablar sobre el impacto positivo que un maestro de primaria o secundaria ha tenido en su vida. Cada año, salgo de esta ceremonia sintiéndome inspirada y orgullosa de nuestros educadores y estudiantes. 

Felicitaciones a nuestros graduados de Summa y gracias a todos los maestros que han ayudado a educar, influir e inspirar a nuestros estudiantes a lo largo de los años.

Antes de terminar, quiero dejarlos con algunas buenas noticias. NEISD no tendrá que compensar ninguno de los días de mal tiempo de enero y febrero.
