In a year like no other, North East ISD nurses never quit. These women are some of our frontline heroes. They ran the COVID-19 testing site for the District. This enabled our students and staff the ability to get a rapid test from the convenience of their car at our Piper Bass Facility just next door. Since November, they have been able to provide this valuable service to more than 2,000 students and staff. Their acts of service did not end there. Six of these nurses – Mary, D’Lynn, Emma, Toni, Cheree and Destiny -- also volunteered at a mass vaccination clinic at the Alamodome providing thousands of vaccines to community members. So not only did they do their regular workday duties taking care of students’ health needs, they made sure our rapid testing site ran smoothly and they helped get our friends and neighbors vaccinated on their own time and without compensation. Thank you for all you to do keep our students, staff and community safe.
