What extracurricular programs (sports, fine arts, JROTC, etc.) are offered?

Fine Arts

North East ISD provides its students a quality, well-rounded education: academics plus extracurricular activities. Research has shown that students who have access to this type of balanced education excel in all areas of academics and assessments.

Fine Arts offers an enriching curriculum including visual arts, theatre, music, dance, cheer, academic UIL, speech, debate, journalism and outdoor education. In partnership with other academic disciplines, Fine Arts increases academic achievement, social and emotional development, and civic engagement. As a result, students are empowered to use their minds more creatively, inspiring them through diversity in learning to broaden their life experiences.

Curriculum includes topics, such as leadership, U.S. military history, personal hygiene, human relations, staff functions and procedures, first aid, military map reading, techniques of oral communications, marksmanship, orienteering, drill and ceremony and civil defense.

Our JROTC programs have won many local, state and national titles. Our cadets can choose to enter the military, go to college or enter the workforce upon graduation.

PALS

Peer Assistance Leadership and Service (PALS) is an elective course offered for one or two years of state credit at the high school level for students who are juniors or seniors. Eighth-grade middle school students can take PALS as an elective. Students receive extensive training that enables them to work with their peers and younger students, and provide service to their school and the North East ISD community. Students apply for the PALS program each spring and are selected through a process that includes nominations, applications, references and interviews. PALS receive training in leadership, communication, group dynamics, confidentiality and conflict resolution/mediation.
