Marking Item Lost with Insignia ILS
(Collecting payment or forgiving an item)
Leave an item checked out to a student until the student is ready to pay for the item or you forgive the student and
remove it from their record. Use this method if a refund might be processed in the future. If payment is being received and there is the possibility of a refund being issued, this form must be filled out.
- Open the Check Out window
- Find Patron's record
- Select the checkbox next to the item being marked Lost
- Click Lost
- The replacement cost of the item is automatically charged to the patron
- You may collect the full amount, a partial amount, or waive the entire amount
- Select the Collect Fines tab
- Enter the amount being collected and press OK
- This patron is being charged $8.00
- A partial payment can be made, leaving a balance to be paid later
- Librarian will waive this remainder
- This patron is being charged $8.00
- Select the item again and click waive
- Enter the amount being waived
- A note in the note field is required when waiving a fine
- Click Print and select Receipt
- Select dates to print
If the item is returned, a refund credit will be applied to the patron's account
- On the Collect Fines tab, click Withdraw
- Enter Amount refunded
- Enter Note
- Click Ok
