While we would rather see you in person, we hope you enjoy our Cub Camp video for this year. You will get an opportunity to see our administration, counselors and student support staff that will be helping you here at Johnson. We also have a brief video tour of the campus to help you become familiar with key locations once students are allowed back on campus. Throughout the video you will hear various tips from members of our Senior Class.

Steps to Student Success
- Attend class every day
- Participate in class
- Have a positive attitude
- Manage homework well

- Student takes responsibility for their own learning and utilizes their resources

Importance of Agendas
- Every 9th grade student will be strongly encouraged to have an agenda
- It is a very important tool that will be used to teach our students organizational skills
- We encourage parents to review them

Tips for Students

- Use your Agenda Planner
- Keep backpack, binders and folders organized
- Make a “To Do” list each night
- Establish a routine
- Find at least one study buddy in each class
- Use teacher web & tutoring resources
- Use your family access portal account to check on assignments – this is for parents AND students

Tips for Parents
- Show interest and be available to help – listen to your child
- Communicate with teachers (parent portal, websites, emails)
- Encourage good attendance and school involvement
- Be aware of grading cycles and when progress reports
- and report cards are posted; see district calendar
- Discuss classes and set goals with your child
- Monitor your child’s social media
- Monitor level of time commitment to activities

Be aware of your child’s Graduation Plan and graduation requirements
From the Summer after 8th grade, semester grades count toward GPA and Rank. So every year is important – we encourage students to start strong
All Grad Plans require passing the 5 STAAR End of Course (EOC) Exams:
- English I and English II
- Biology I
- Algebra I
- US History
