Carter Godwin Woodson (December 19, 1875 - April 3, 1950) was an American historian, author, journalist and the founder of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The March on Washington was a political demonstration held in Washington, D.C., in 1963. Its official name was the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Civil Rights leaders organized more than 200,000 people to protest discrimination against African Americans.

Langston Hughes, American Poet and Activist
James Mercer Langston Hughes (February 1, 1902 - May 22, 1967) was an American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and columnist. He is best remembered as a leader of the Harlem Renaissance. His main concern was the uplift of his people, whose strengths, resiliency, courage, and humor he wanted to record as part of the general American experience. Permeating his work is pride in the African-American identity and its diverse culture.
